[It's stupid, to send this. It's stupid to write when it doesn't matter, when he's looked and looked and now he can't look any longer, there's nowhere else to look, and all he can do is sort of-- distract himself, to keep from going mental. And he still looks, anyways, he still goes off--sometimes with Remus, sometimes without him--and walks the corridors, even going to the more dangerous bits of the ship, the bits where it's dark.
But he'd know if James were gone. He'd just know. It sounds weird, but he would, and he holds to that, because he hasn't got anything else, and he avoids Lily, and Harry--Merlin, especially Harry--and he purposefully doesn't bring it up with Remus, because-- he doesn't get scared. This isn't scared. This is nothing at all, and that's worse.
